Since launching a couple of years ago, our Youth Advisory Group has been bringing young people together to share their experiences, to engage young people in active decision making, to create real change on issues that directly impact young people (both at Youth Projects and in the broader local community) and steer some exciting new initiatives and events in the community.

Our YAG ((if you know, you know)) continues to provide us with invaluable insight into service and program gaps within the community, but most importantly provides the opportunities to have young voices heard and provide meaningful roles and opportunities for young people to contribute to their local community.

And WE WANT MORE. More youth (more YOUth, even?!)

We're currently recruiting 10 passionate young people (aged between 14 and 25 years old) to join our Youth Advisory Group for a jam-packed year of youth-centric activities at Youth Projects.

We are looking for young people who want want to use their voice to empower others, create real social change and have their say on issues that directly impact them. These are voluntary roles and we ask that you be available to join our fortnightly meetings.

It's so much more than just that though. It's a place for young people to develop their confidence, social connections, leadership skills, plus all of this:

  • Experience planning and facilitating youth-led workshops
  • Contributing to ongoing community participation and engagement
  • Increased knowledge of issues that directly impact young people in their local community
  • Valuable volunteering experience in the Youth and Community Services sector
  • An industry network connection, social connections and new friends
  • Another addition to your resume (looks great on job applications!

And 2022 is looking REAL GOOD for YAG.

Our YAG are launching a series of life skills workshops focussed on “things young people need to know.” For young people. By young people. Each workshop will focus on developing the physical, mental, and social health of young people, to support them transitioning and adapting to adult life.

PLUS they'll be busy:

  • Participating in the 2022 Midsumma festival program
  • Curating & Launching a brand new youth-led content series for Youth Projects online
  • Designing an original logo and merch for YAG
  • Hosting a youth art exhibition, youth forums, workshops, Youth Awards Night and live music events across Melbourne

If this is the spice you need RN in life, we want to hear from you.
