Youth Projects is committed to providing an environment where children who come into contact with the organisation are safe and feel safe. To achieve this, Youth Projects will:

  • Embed a culture of child safety throughout the organisation;
  • Deliver services that promote and support child safety;
  • Implement robust human resources and recruitment practices for all staff, volunteers, consultants and contractors;
  • Provide induction, training and supervision to ensure everyone understands their obligations to protect the safety and wellbeing of children, identify child abuse risks and prevent, detect and report any inappropriate behaviour, misconduct or suspected child abuse;
  • Ensure all safety concerns and allegations are treated seriously in accordance with the law and department policy, including contacting authorities as appropriate;
  • Actively listen to and support children to promote their participation and empowerment;
  • Ensure our culture supports all staff to feel comfortable in reporting of suspected poor behaviour;
  • Commit to child safety and wellbeing across all levels of the organisation.

All Youth Projects Board members, staff, volunteers, student placements, consultants and contractors are required to uphold the Youth Projects Commitment to Child Safety and their responsibility to protect the safety and wellbeing of children.
