Youth Projects has celebrated the achievements of eleven young students who have completed the Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations. The group came together on November 25 at the Youth Projects Melton hub for a shared lunch and a small graduation ceremony, in the presence of friends, family and youth workers. Program Coordinator Julian spoke about the delivery and impact of the course, before congratulating the student and presenting each of them with their framed certificate.

“These young men should be so proud of themselves! I remember them being shy and nervous on their first day, and over time they cultivated a sense of community to not only show up for themselves, but to help their peers, says Julian.

The program began in July 2025, and students completed their training over a period of 14 weeks. The course was delivered by Kangan Institute TAFE and hosted at the Melton hub as part of Youth Projects' activity program.

Holding the program on site created a more accessible and community-focused learning space. Students were able to learn in an environment that felt safe and familiar and had greater agency in shaping their own experience,” says Julian.

The young people also shared how this shaped their experience.

It felt more like a bunch of mates coming together. That was my favourite part."  – Bailey, program graduate.

What made this program stand out was the commitment to adapt to student feedback and needs. The team worked closely with participants to make the course as accessible and personalised as possible. Youth Projects also ran several employment workshops with recruitment partners to help students build confidence for job interviews and prepare for real work environments.

During the course, students also gained their forklift licence. By the time of graduation, half of the group had already started work in warehousing in both pick packing and forklift driving roles. Each student spoke proudly about their progress and shared how much they are enjoying their new opportunities.

"My favourite part of the course has been to get to learn how to maintain and drive a forklift. I'm proud of myself for following through and showing up to all the lessons. A memory from the course was making the new friends that I now have ."
– Lukas, program graduate

Youth Projects congratulates all the graduates and looks forward to seeing where their new skills take them next.
