A number of Victoria's food social enterprises have teamed up to form a pandemic food response, providing thousands of meals for some of our community's most vulnerable people. Participating businesses are putting 100% of profits back into community programs that are perfectly placed to respond to the unfolding crisis that we are experiencing.

 

Conservative estimates predict that over 10% of the population will be in need of emergency food assistance over the coming months with demand expected to exceed more than 250,000 meals a week. Unfortunately, Melbourne’s fresh food system is not well equipped for a crisis of this scale.

 

Until, that is, along comes STREAT's newest food response, A Moving Feast.

 

A Moving Feast plan to prepare and deliver at least 10,000 meals this week thanks to an army of other enterprises jumping on board the movement.  The meals will cover a vast array of diverse dishes (including vegetarian and lactose and gluten free). Every dish being prepared, packaged and served with love by professional chefs with above industry standard hygiene practices.

 

Today, we received a delivery of 500 pre-made meals and 30 boxes of mixed fruit and vegetables at The Living Room. 

  

The meals and produce we received today will be made available for and distributed amongst people experiencing homelessness or disadvantage that are accessing our critical health support services at The Living Room.
