About the Role

Work alongside young people living with varied abilities to secure sustainable employment opportunities, assisting each young person to develop an understanding of employer needs and the skills, attitudes and behaviours expected in workplace environments. The ideal candidate will coach, mentor and guide young people into meaningful pathways (including educational opportunities) using innovative strategies to overcome challenges along the way. You will develop relationships with employers and create opportunities for program participants to move into employment.   

You see every young person as an individual with their own strengths and interests and will help them to build the self-confidence needed to break out of the unemployment cycle through case management, group work, supported referrals to non-vocational services and direct linkages to employers.

The position will be based across our Glenroy, Preston and Coburg sites and may be required to work at other locations from time to time.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in an employment services, disability, training industry, and/or community/youth sector
  • Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Development considered desirable
  • Experience supporting disadvantaged clients into employment opportunities is highly regarded
  • Demonstrated business development and promotional skills to secure new and repeat business
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, inclusive of all people and all abilities
  • Passion and dedication for community development and social justice principles
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong administration skills with competency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Proactive, self-directed and resourceful
  • Possess a passion for service excellence
  • Wanting to grow, develop, and build a career with a progressive organisation

About Youth Projects

Youth Projects is an Australian-based independent, registered charity who recognise the complex and varying needs of our clients and offer a holistic model of care and provide pathways into our award winning employment, education and social enterprise programs. Located at two sites (Hosier Lane and the vibrant, northern region of Melbourne) Youth Projects provides front line support to individuals experiencing disadvantage, unemployment, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues and young people looking to re-engage with learning and employment. Our mission is to provide high impact support, no judgement, full stop.
