About the Role

We're on the hunt for a creative barista and skilled espresso artist that can not only brew the finest coffee, but will bring a unique style to our brand new social enterprise cafe in a new, start of the art facility at the Alfred Hospital (opening in 2020). Our Barista won't be your average barista, we want someone who is mastering the craft of artisan espresso to help us create a unique and socially conscious experience behind every brew. You'll be the master of our new La Marzocco machine and will be working under the guidance and support of our Social Enterprise Leader and Youth Enterprise Co-ordinator to create a unique customer experience and be part of real social change in the community.
Our new social enterprise cafe is be a bespoke coffee bar that brews the finest espresso, serves nutritious food and empowers young people to lead meaningful lives by providing hands-on skills development and mentoring from industry experts. Each young person will have a platform to build self confidence, gain key employability skills and genuine work experience in a supportive and judgement free environment. 

This position will be full time on a 12-month contract.

What you'll bring:

  • 3+ years Barista and Hospitality experience
  • High quality espresso and coffee art skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high quality and product-focussed environment
  • Knowledge of operating and maintaining commercial coffee machines and equipment
  • Your positive attitude, ready to roll up your sleeves and help us create a truly unique customer experience
  • Exceptional customer service, communication skills and a genuine care for your customers
  • Ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Availability to work rotating shifts
