Life skills

Our life skills programs are aimed at empowering people to build independence, resilience and social connectedness to maximise their potential to lead independent lives.

The Pathways Project shares essential life skills that enable people at risk of or experiencing homelessness to maintain housing, engage in meaningful activities (such as learning, volunteering and employment) and maximise their potential to lead independent lives. The Project also links people to clinical services for assistance and referrals.

Through building essential life skills we can build individuals' confidence to navigate service systems, develop an understanding of rental rights and responsibilities, empower consumers to maintain healthy lifestyles and seek employment, education or training. The skills taught embed hygiene, nutrition, mindfulness, communication, confidence and responsibility into an individual’s every day.

Highlights from the Pathways Project already include:

  • Working with Justice Connect to understand individuals' legal rights and responsibilities
  • Employability workshops (including participants creating resumes stored on USBs)
  • Working with CoHealth & Laneway Learnings to run health and wellness sessions
  • Social excursions to Melbourne Zoo, Indigenous Bush Heritage walk and the Old Melbourne Gaol

The Pathways Project is developed and delivered, in consultation with our Consumer Advisory Group to ensure the skills are relevant, targeted to actual needs and real people are represented and present in creating a strong framework to maintain long-term outcomes.

You can help create life changing opportunities by supporting programs just like The Pathways Project by donating today.
