The Community Traineeship Pilot Program has kept us on our toes since we launched the new program in March 2019, connecting with 500+ organisations in the Community Services sector across Melbourne.

In that time, we’ve placed over 30 trainees and it’s been nothing short of inspiring watching our young people grow and do work that’s worth getting out of bed for.

We’ve had the profound joy of speaking to business owners like Susanna from Moral Fairground who help social enterprises make a bigger impact in the community.

She decided to take on Kem as a trainee and as a result Susanna is free to focus more on growing her business while Kem helps her with social media and administration. Outside of the office, Kem is also studying a Certificate IV in Community Services as part of the trainee program.

“With Kem, she’s got a lot of amazing skills. She’s very creative, very good with social media and that all helps me with some of the things that I don’t have the time to do. So it’s really been very complimentary for Moral Fairground.”

We caught up with Kem and Susanna to get an idea of why we are so thrilled about this program and how other businesses and organisations can host a young person (who wouldn’t otherwise have this opportunity) to develop skills and create a bright future for themselves.

“I always wanted to create events in community spaces. Having an opportunity to learn as I go (and earn as I go) seemed like a really awesome opportunity.”

Check out the video below and you'll get an idea of why we are so thrilled by this program, and how you can support your organisation and help a young person (who wouldn't otherwise have this opportunity) to develop skills and create a bright future for themselves.
