What is youth underemployment?
Youth unemployment in Australia has risen sharply but so has youth underemployment. Today, young people are more likely to be underemployed – to have some work but want more hours – than at any time in the last 36 years. With the unemployment rate among those aged 15 to 24 at July 2014 standing at 14.1 per cent – itself the highest rate since October 2001.
