Our social enterprise coffee shop and training site Good 2 Go was launched at the end of 2014 to combat the unreasonable barriers that many young people are faced with when endeavouring to find work, and the rising rate of youth unemployment that results from this. Featuring hands on mentoring in hospitality and life skills from industry experts, our team work with individualised plans and timelines to ensure each young person is equipped with the confidence to strive to attain work, and the capabilities to maintain it.
With youth unemployment on the rise in Victoria, Good 2 Go's training program helps these young people to create a more sustainable life for themselves as they reach for independence and wellbeing. With the Living Room Primary Health Service adjacent to our cafe, our mental health and AOD professionals are able to work with our training staff - which means that we are able to take on people that similar programs and organisations simply cannot. People who are experiencing homelessness, confronting prominent mental health issues or facing substance dependency are not turned away from our service.
In fact, we see these young people as the primary target for our program. We want to work with them to ensure that a away from disadvantage and unemployment can be achieved. The cycle of unemployment and homelessness is correlated and unforgiving, which is why we are dedicated to ensuring that all young people are granted equal opportunities in life, which includes employment, education and training pathways.
Serving up delicious coffee from Rumble Coffee Roasters in Kensington, we strive to support local businesses and help to build and strengthen our community. What's more - 100% of the profits from the coffee shop are redirected back into the programs and services offered by Youth Projects, such as our Night Nurses and Foot Patrol teams. So next time you're after a morning latte, or an afternoon chai, why not make a conscious decision as to where your money is going, and choose to help your community.
