Youth Projects understands that the right path to secure employment is not a fast-tracked “one-size fits all” approach. That is why our dedicated team of training and employment professionals work alongside our clients to create an individualised plan that will see them not only employed, but equipped with the skills and confidence to maintain their new working lifestyle.
More than one in three unemployed Australians are young - between the ages of 15 and 24. In under a decade the rate of youth unemployment has risen from 9% to 14% but the problem is also locational. Areas of socio-economic disadvantage experience unemployment at much higher rates. In fact areas north of Melbourne have rate of youth unemployment at above 30%.
This is why we initially focused on the rising number of unemployed youth in Melbourne’s north over thirty years ago; an issue that evidently continues and is therefore a primary concern for our team at Youth Projects. Over time, however, we realised that there was a real need to increase our scope in an endeavour to ensure that all members of our community are given a realistic and fair chance at employment. To accomplish this we have expanded our reach by creating opportunities for all members of our community who might be suffering from entrenched disadvantage through the implementation of employment and training programs at our CBD site.
We offer engaging, hands-on opportunities for clients tailored to each person’s specific needs and goals to garner the appropriate knowledge and skills required. We utilise a soft engagement approach as our team educate and prepare each individual while developing confidence and increasing comfort working within a professional environment.
